The Academic Session provides the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) with an opportunity to formally recognise the achievement of its members and to meet with delegates of Australian and international medical colleges.
A number of honorary awards are presented at the academic session, including the Rose-Hunt Award which is the highest accolade granted by the RACGP. New Fellows are also presented with their diplomas in a ceremony for friends and families to enjoy. The awards of General Practitioner of the Year, General Practice of the Year, General Practice Supervisor of the Year and General Practice Registrar of the Year, additionally form part of the accolades presented at the ceremony.
