Research keynote address

Professor Jane Gunn

Professor and Foundation Chair of Primary Care Research, Head of the Department of General Practice, & Deputy Head of the Medical School, The University of Melbourne.

Professor Jane Gunn is a General Practitioner who has established a successful primary care mental health research group and is involved in leading primary care reform. Her research focuses on improving mental health via better primary and community care. In 2016 Jane was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences in recognition of her outstanding leadership in health and medical research. She continues to serve on a number of National advisory committees.

Jane is a past President of the Australasian Association for Academic Primary Care and served on the NHMRC Research Committee from 2009-2015. She is also a Director of the Board of the Peter MacCallum Cancer hospital and a Director of the Board of the Eastern Melbourne PHN. She is a Visiting Professor to the University of Glasgow and a member of the Working Party for Mental Health World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA). To date, Jane has over 150 peer reviewed publications and her research has attracted more than $32m in funding.
